After the initial intensive testing and commissioning of our brand-new locomotive, it was pleasing to maintain continuity of our train ride operations during the busy July school holiday period.
However, with the school holiday period at an end, we now need to periodically suspend the train operations over the next couple of weeks to undertake further compulsory testing of the new locomotive.
The dates/times for suspended operations will be:
- Monday, 21st July 2025 – No train rides available
- Thursday, 24th July 2025 – Train rides only available until 10.30am
- Monday, 28th July 2025 – No train rides available
- Tuesday, 5th August 2025 – No train rides available after 1.30pm
- Wednesday, 6th August 2025 – No train rides available
We are on schedule to complete 100 hours of testing and 500 laps (all passenger-free) of the new locomotive before our design verification audit on 5th & 6th August. The audit will precede design and plant registration as required by the regulator for operating an amusement device.
We are optimistic that our new locomotive will be operational by Floriade, providing support for our existing locomotive, Mighty Mike. The new locomotive will then be interchanged periodically with Mighty Mike, to ensure train operations continuity in the future without the need to shut down as has occurred in the past.
The picture above shows our two locomotives steaming up alongside each other.
